I love the names in Nova Scotia.

Shelburne County Place Names

Gunning Cove, I wonder how that name came to be?

Canneries in Canning?

Wolfville? Hmmm, anything to do with wolves?

New Minas?

How about Bear River?  Paradise?

What is your favourite place name in Nova Scotia?

The Lobster Shot

The Lobster Shot how to:

How to cook Lobster always invites lively debate among Nova Scotians and Lobster eaters everywhere!

My Method: Based on 1lb Lobster

Bring heavily salted water to a boil. 1/2 cup of salt for every 2 litres of water.

Place lobster in boiling water, once water returns to boil, continue for 20 minutes.

Once cooked, plunge lobster into cold water and immediately remove to platter.

Allow lobster to rest 30 minutes.

The Nova Scotia Lobster Shot: Must be done before you begin eating lobster as it sets up your palate.

Break off claw from knuckles. Hold Claw upside down, cover bottom of claw with your mouth, tilt your head back and drink while pulling claw apart (this makes the juice flow).

Enjoy your Nova Scotia Lobster!
